*These are unpaid internships with potential for academic credit. 12-20 hours per week for at least 15 weeks is required for academic credit.

Animal Caregiver Intern

Tamerlaine is looking for a highly motivated, dedicated individual, interested in joining the Animal Care Operations at our facility.  Work with like-minded individuals that are committed to the highest care and well being of our rescued animals.  This position will have a possibility of a full time position at the end of the internship.

 Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Barn and habitat cleaning and enrichment

  • Feeding Shelter Animals

  • Assisting with basic animal care procedures

  • Cleaning hospital areas

  • Assisting with animal health checks

  • Other tasks and duties as needed

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Able to take instruction on how to care for animals

  • Able to prioritize effectively

  • Excellent animal behavior observation skills

  • Must be able to think outside the box and treat all animals on an individual level

  • Able to work effectively and compassionately with all personality types

  • Able to keep cool in medical emergencies

  • Able to work in all weather conditions and be able to perform strenuous tasks

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs

  • Must be very reliable and dependable

  • Excellent record keeping skills

  • Team player who is able to take direction well

Humane Education Intern

Do you have what it takes to support our growing education initiatives and accompanying digital and printed materials?

Tamerlaine Sanctuary is seeking an individual with a strong work ethic and a passion for humane education. The ideal candidate will be versed in relevant topics and enthusiastic about writing creative curriculum and content that educates our audience on the global relevance of our work. This position is mostly remote with opportunities to spend time at the sanctuary to get to know our nonhuman animal residents. Ideally, the person who fills this role will be available to visit the farm monthly or bi-monthly to collaborate with other staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the facilitation of humane education programming and sanctuary tours

  • Further develop our current humane education programs and create original curricula to be added to Tamerlaine’s repertoire.

  • Generate content and materials for our website, email blasts, and social media

  • Provide support during community outreach events

  • Research and strategize the expansion and increased reach of our programs

The candidate must:

  • Be driven and perform with a sense of urgency

  • Feel comfortable working independently

  • Be organized and communicative with various managers

  • Be professional and represent Tamerlaine Sanctuary positively

  • Ideally be passionate about animal advocacy/veganism

  • Feel comfortable following instruction while being enthusiastic about collaborative projects

  • Be an excellent writer and inspired to share stories and knowledge with our supporters and community.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant education and/ or experience

  • Familiarity or willingness to become familiar with Google Docs, Asana, Canva, and other platforms for the purposes of team collaboration

  • Superb attention to detail

Hours:

  • Remote internship, weekly conference calls, monthly or bi-monthly day trips to the sanctuary/ or meetings in NYC
